One of the most successful Melbourne headquartered family-owned Australian Retail/Fashion houses with a 50-year heritage.
Reporting to the General Manager of HR, with very close links to the HR Manager, the Payroll and Systems Administrator will be responsible for the administration, delivery and coordination of all payroll responsibilities across the business including checking, monitoring and coordinating the efficient operation of the Time and Attendance system as well as liaising with Regional Managers and Store-based employees regarding payroll irregularities. In addition to this, the Payroll and Systems Administrator will Play a lead role in WorkCover processes to assist employees in returning to work ensuring effective communication with the employee, management and WorkCover. THE POSITIVES
This is a newly created position with a growing business that is investing heavily in its Payroll/HR systems to not only streamline what they do now but build capacity for envisaged future growth/acquisitions. This is a highly unique role whereby you will not only be provided with the opportunity to stamp your mark but a voice at the Senior Management table when strategic Payroll decisions are discussed. As much as the role is an autonomous one when it comes to Payroll, the HR Manager can (and will) manage the Payroll if you’re not there. Yes, you can get sick and/or take leave! On top of that, they offer a 50% employee discount across all their brands. THE CHALLENGES
Whilst the employee base is not “massive”, and the Payroll is outsourced, the business prefers that employee queries are dealt with in-house rather than outsource that aspect of the Payroll. This should not be an issue for a customer-centric Payroll Professional. The business is also soon going live with a whole new Payroll/T&A/HRIS so you will need to demonstrate a level of patience as the store network navigate this change. And, it’s Retail/Fashion. Fast-paced, dynamic, no two days the same! That’s more of a positive for someone that way inclined. IDEAL APPLICANTS
This newly created opportunity would be most suited to someone who enjoys the Payroll processing aspect of their current position but is looking to add a suite of new skills to their existing experience – like system administration and WorkCover. Applicants with current or previous experience in a bureau/outsourced Payroll work environment would relish the variety that this position offers. Of course, all the other traits of a hardworking Payroll Professional are essential – thorough understanding of payroll complexities/legislative obligations/compliance requirements, high attention to detail, effective planning and organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to cope with changing business requirements.
