About the role 

This is a unique opportunity to join the National Response Centre team working onsite in our Docklands office. Our Response Officers all have some key attributes in common. We’re inquisitive, innovative, resilient, and adaptable people who all have our customers at the heart of everything we do.

As a Response Officer, you’ll be working in a dynamic, fast paced, ever-changing environment, where you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience whilst processing inbound emergency and non-emergency, supply fault, safety and welfare monitoring calls, dispatching of emergency and non-emergency requests to the field and communication support across several industries including but not limited to Water and Energy providers.

Some of your day to day your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Accurately and timely capture of call information, entering all information received into relevant systems for use by a Dispatcher; and 
  • Processing updates and further information regarding an event status. 
  • Managing a range of customer enquiries relating but not limited to inbound faults and emergency and non-emergency calls within regulatory and contractual timeframes;
  • Dispatching of service orders within regulatory and contractual timeframes, providing notification to the Senior Response Officer if this performance measure is at risk of being breached.
  • Planning and dispatch of work orders to meet agreed installation timeframes;
  • Notifying the Senior Response Officer immediately of any incident which has the potential to escalate.

What you’ll bring

  • Ability to facilitate a rotating roster comprising of an 8-hour shift that can be rostered in a span of hours between 06:00 and Midnight Monday to Sunday including Public Holidays
  • You’ll need to be a self-motivated, flexible, proactive problem solver who can also work under instruction.
  • Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced inbound emergency response centre environment
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences each and every time
  • Personal qualities such as dedication, resilience, caring empathetic and solution orientated mindset
  • Positive ‘can do’ approach to all that you do
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to relay information correctly
  • Confidence working with computers across multiple systems
  • Experience in dispatching of emergency field resources desirable but not essential

Please note, due to the critical nature of the services that the National Response Centre provides, Drug and Alcohol screening is essential.

It is a requirement of the Victorian Government that the person undertaking this role be fully vaccinated
