The People and Culture Development department is committed to delivering professional strategic and operational human resource activities to Council’s staff and management. This includes recognising and enhancing the capability of our staff as they carry out services to the organisation and the community, and ensuring their safety and wellbeing in the workplace. 

About the role

We are seeking a Human Resources professional with a proven record of business partnering with a large and diverse organisation and to be responsible for the coordination of generalist HR activities to join our team. You will be responsible for functions including recruitment and selection, salary administration, performance management, learning and development and employee relations/industrial relations. You will also contribute to policy development and special projects.

You must be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and should be willing to get stuck into the operational, day to day running of the HR function as well as driving the strategy. You will be joining an outgoing, high-performing and friendly team engaged in enhancing the human capability of our organisation.

This is a temporary full-time position available to commence early 2022 for a period of 12 months. 

Essential Criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a relevant field
  • A successful record in generalist business partnering within a large and diverse organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in staff performance management
  • Experience in providing coaching to managers and supervisors
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills
  • Are you vaccinated for COVID-19 or do you have a Medical Exemption in line with the NSW Public Health Order?

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HR matters in a Local Government environment

Commencing salary: $94,214.00 - $109,056.00 per annum + 10% superannuation

A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.
