The Role

The Conference Co-ordinator plays a key role in  researching and coordinating across AIST’s conferences including the Conference of Major Superannuation Funds (CMSF) and the Superannuation Investment Conference (ASI). 

Reporting to the General Manager, Professional Development you will be responsible for coordinating the administration for speakers and sessions to align with industry trends, and assisting in formulating programs to enhance the professional development of our members, reflecting AIST’s position as a thought leader in the superannuation industry.

The ideal candidate will have an interest working in superannuation, be keen to embrace new opportunities, deepen their knowledge of the superannuation landscape and utilise their project and relationship coordination/administration skills.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Help in identifying topics and themes relevant to AIST member funds and evolving member needs
  • Researching ideas across multiple streams (e.g. investments, operations, governance) for inclusion in AIST’s conferences
  • Coordinating content across a range of AIST programs in line with AIST’s highly regarded advocacy work and members first ethos
  • Contributing ideas for content development for Special Interest Groups (SIG) and Young Super Network committees as required  
  • Working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to help identify high quality industry experts
  • Assisting with identifying and negotiating speaking engagements with high profile, qualified, domestic, and international speakers 
  • Ensuring the content delivered is designed to maximise the learning experience of attendees (our members)
  • Collaborating with AIST’s Marketing team to provide speaker and content information for promotional purposes
  • Attend AIST’s conferences and advocate for our Profit-to-Member values

As the successful applicant, you must demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or a coordination role will be highly regarded 
  • An inquisitive mind and a “can do” approach, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to be agile to changing situations and environments
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field 
  • Willingness to learn and understand the profit-to-member superannuation industry 
  • An excellent communicator and effective collaborator, who can quickly build relationships and rapport with all levels of people and teams 
  • Proven track record of high quality written and communication skills 
  • Highly developed time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
  • A team player – reliable, accountable with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Advanced skills in MS Office suite of programs

  • On occasions, this role requires some out-of-hours work including evenings and the suitable candidate will demonstrate flexibility in working arrangements
  • Required travel to leading AIST conference events

  • The preferred candidate for the position will need to complete a national police background check.
