About the Role:  The Maintenance Technician, based in Laverton Nth, is responsible for assist the Engineering, Production and Operations teams by maintaining plant and equipment in accordance with all relevant SQE standards. It is also responsible for assisting the building, commissioning, and implementation of engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing all maintenance operations in accordance with relevant work instructions and roster arrangements.
  • Record keeping as required including maintenance records, logbooks, registers and safety documentation as required.
  • Complete or assist with trouble shooting of equipment breakdown/ poor performance
  • Building, construction, and commissioning of engineering projects according to specifications, drawings, and schematics.
  • Required to attend and contribute to Risk Assessments & HAZOP’s
  • Manage & coordinate procurement of contractors and suppliers as required in accordance with A-Gas policies and procedures, including contractor inductions, issue work permits, completing JSEA’s
  • Required to attend and contribute to regular meetings including, but not limited to, Weekly Engineering Meetings, MoC/D&D Meetings and Monthly Communications Meetings
  • EWP license

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Trade Assistant or related equivalent experience (must be experienced with all manner of hand tools and power tools)
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Suite of products such as Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, Office, Internet Explorer, and Outlook
  • Well developed communication skills; written and verbal
  • Proficient knowledge of dangerous goods/hazardous substances
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings and pneumatic/ electrical schematics
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forklift licence


  • A basic understanding of refrigeration systems and pressurised equipment
  • Refrigerant handling licence
  • Restricted electrical licence / electrical test and tag licence
